public sidewalks clear of snow and ice. Therefore, if injury is caused to a citizen
due to snow and/or ice on a sidewalk, the homeowner is liable for that injury in
court.
Hamilton County Snow Laws
521.06 DUTY TO KEEP SIDEWALKS IN REPAIR AND CLEAN.
(a) No owner or occupant of abutting lands shall fail to keep the sidewalks, curbs or gutters in repair and free from snow, ice or any nuisance. (ORC 723.011)
(b) Whoever violates this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor.
909.03 REMOVAL OF SNOW AND ICE.
It shall be the duty of the owner of any premises abutting upon any public sidewalk to remove from such sidewalk any snowfall thereon, and to remove any accumulation or cover of ice from any such sidewalk, or to cover such ice with sand or other substance so as to render it safe and convenient for passage within a reasonable time. Failure to comply with the requirement of this section shall be deemed to be a violation of this section.
